All-Time Best Christmas quotes to share on Whatsapp and Facebook: 20 Christmas Quotes to wish Merry Christmas

Christmas or X’Mas is dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ and is celebrated on December 25 every year the world over. The day is a special time for family, friends and colleagues to close and exchange good wishes, gifts, sweets and spread cheer. Christmas Day is the start of the Christian liturgical year, which initiates the 12 days of Christmastide that go on to till January 5. Christmas ends after the 12th night. Jesus was born to Mother Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem around 2000 years ago in a meadow. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit, foretold to her by an angel, who named the child Jesus. The word ‘Christmas’ has been derived from the old English word ‘Cristes Maesse’, which means the Mass of Christ.

When Jesus was born in the manger, surrounded by farm animals, Mother Mary wrapped him in swaddling clothes. Shepherds from the fields were informed about the birth of Jesus by an angel. The shepherds were the first ones to see the child, apart from the three kings named Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar who visited baby Jesus. Also, there is also a long description in the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible about the baby’s visitors like astrologers and other people who brought him several gifts. It is also said that the visitors were simply there because they were following a mysterious star known as the Star of Bethlehem that brought them to Jesus Christ.

On the day of Christmas, people go to midnight mass, sing carols and greet each other. Nowadays most people also simply share messages and quotes through WhatsApp, Facebook and SMS. We share a list of special Christmas quotes with you that you send to your loved ones! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
